 
M. Adnan Gilani

Mr. Gilani has pursued a career in finance, economics  and emerging markets for over two decades. On the public sector side, he  started at the Debt  Office in the Ministry for Finance as Director, looking after the comprehensive  management of all risks (currency, interest rate, etc) of both the internal and  external debt portfolios.  This required liaising with the State Bank and  the SECP for the development of the local bond markets and exchanges as well. 
  
Following this, he was involved in  private equity financing, bringing in a foreign consortium of investors for one  of Pakistan’s largest bank acquisitions.  
  
On the international front,  Mr. Gilani has led teams and units at top international institutions Goldman  Sachs, Citibank and HSBC.  He also managed funds focused on Asia and its  development areas like infrastructure, privatization, banking, etc at Galleon  International (a top NY based hedge fund).  Most recently, he founded the  boutique Asia macro/fundamental research firm, Goldpebble Research, which does  primary research and industry analysis concentrated on China and its  periphery.  
  
Along with his commitment  with Goldpebble Mr. Gilani was recently asked to help set up and manage the  Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) at the Prime Minister’s Office with a  mandate to oversee strategic initiatives of the Government.  PMDU is also  the pivotal coordination unit between the governments, ministries, financial  institutions and project sponsors for the implementation of the China-Pakistan  Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.
Mr. Gilani’s academic background is in Analytic Finance and International Business; he has undergraduate degrees in Economics (Finance) from the Wharton Business School and Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He went to graduate school at the University of Chicago (Booth) for advanced Analytic Finance.
