Syed Asad Ali Shah is a Chartered Accountant engaged in professional practice, with over 35 year of experience of serving most of Pakistan’s prominent corporate and financial sector entities in private as well as public sector. He remained Country Management Partner of Deloitte Pakistan, member of world’s largest professional services firm Deloitte for eight years, and earlier remained a senior Partner in that firm for ten years. Remained President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan in 2008-09 and remained member of ICAP Council for eight years, member of Board of International Federation of Accountants, global body representing more than 2.5 million accountants and Chairman of Inter-governmental working group on accounting & financial reporting (ISAR), Unctad, United Nations Geneva, one of the largest global forums on financial reporting.


Current Engagements:

  • Chief executive Asad Ali Shah Associates, Chartered Accountants.
  • Member Policy Board of Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (apex regulator of Corporate Sector in Pakistan) and member of Board’s two subcommittees, namely Regulations Committee, HR & IT Committee
  • Member of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Austerity and Government Restructuring under the Chairmanship of Dr. Ishrat Hussain. He also lead a subgroup of this task force, which developed plan for e-government & automation of the federal government, working with National Information Technology Board, which was approved by the Task Force in October 2018, and based on which a Summary was prepared for the Prime Minister by the Ministry of IT, and the implementation of such plan is under way.
  • Member Board of Director’s of Karachi Electric and two board committees, namely audit committee (including technology assurance and risk management oversight) and Regulatory Affairs Committee
  • Member Accounting Standards Board and DAAB of ICAP.
  • Promoting a public interest start up Company “Befiler”, Pakistan’s first and largest digital tax return filing solution to promote tax filing and compliance culture
