Background:
The Northern Regional Committee is formed under the Chartered Accountants Bye – Laws, 1983 The Committee is represented by six elected members – five members from Zone A and one member from Zone B. Zone “A” of Northern Region comprises of the Province of Punjab and Federal Capital Territory while Zone “B” comprises of Khyber Phakhtunkhwa, Northern & Tribal Areas and Azad Kashmir.

The duties of the Regional Committees are:-
To assist the Council on all matters referred to it by the Council and to offer such other help as may be required;
To make representations to the Council in connection with matters of professional and business interest in the region and to offer suggestions for raising the standard and status of the profession and for improvement of the law applying to it;
To facilitate the dissemination of necessary information to members or to the prospective students for training and examination;
To recommend either on their own motion, or on a reference by the Council, names for inclusion in the panel of examiners;
To arrange, if found practicable, for the coaching of candidates for the examination in the various centers of the region and to maintain an up-to-date and well-equipped libraries and reading-rooms for the use of the members and students;
To run study circles through sub-committees or arrange for regular meetings of the members for discussion on topical subject affecting the accountancy profession;
To maintain an Employment Register for securing suitable employment for chartered accountants and finding suitable chartered accountants for employers
To carry out such other functions as may be entrusted from time to time to the respective Regional Committees by the Council
